With the aim of improving accessibility, the Ontario government launched an initiative in 2022 to allow Ontarians with a permanent photo and signature exemption for their health card or who were over the age of 80 to request a virtual appointment with ServiceOntario to renew their card.
This virtual appointment service is now available to Ontarians who are 18 years of age or older if their photo health card is not expired and does not require a new photo or signature.

Virtual Appointments for Health Card Renewals
What’s new?
ServiceOntario has expanded its online renewal services with a virtual appointment service to renew photo (green) health cards.
A virtual appointment is a video call with a ServiceOntario customer service representative to help you renew your photo health card from home, without needing to visit a ServiceOntario centre. Learn more at Ontario.ca/VirtualAppointment.

Virtual appointments are available if you:
have a permanent photograph and signature exemption (Ontario.ca/RenewHealthCard), or
