THANK YOU to the 200 vehicles and over 450 children who with their families braved the soggy conditions of a cold December night to take in the spectacle of festive light displays at Glenhyrst Art Gallery and Gardens in Brantford.
The second annual drive-thru holiday event is the evolution of the traditional Children's Christmas Party hosted by Lansdowne in partnership with the Rotary Club of Brantford.
In the past, Rotary volunteers have partnered with Lansdowne to dress-up the centre in Brantford and create a Winter Wonderland of festive celebration for all the children and youth clients. In 2020, in response to COVID-19 challenges, Rotary and Lansdowne moved the event to Glenhyrst as a drive-thru experience. The response from children and their families has been overwhelmingly positive. 2021 is the second 'Night @the Lights' event, renamed in an effort to offer a more inclusive invitation to all our community members.
BIG THANKS to all our volunteers who stuck it out on Sunday evening, December 5. The rain may have soaked our costumes but it didn't dampen our holiday spirits.
We would like to also recognize the generous contributions of wonderful community partners like Boston Pizza and PetSmart.
Each child client from Lansdowne Children's Centre who attended the event received a goody bag of treats, jam packed with contributions from community partners including snacks, crayons and plush animals. For those who could not attend the event, there are pickup dates available (Monday December 6 and Monday December 13) to make an appointment to pickup your holiday treats at reception. If you can not make it into the Centre, please call reception and discuss other options. We want to ensure all our families receive something for the holidays.
To our wonderful hosts at Glenhyrst, THANK YOU for your generous partnership. The only memory more brilliant than your light displays will be the bright smiles on the faces of the kids as they experienced your garden spectacle.
Wishing everyone the very best wishes this holiday season.
