For the third consecutvie year, Beach Wave Volleyball has hosted a tournament to raise funds to support Lansdowne Children’s Centre.
Brantford/County of Brant - In a true competitive spirit, tournament organizer Trish Barsby said she had wanted to surpass last year’s total raised of $4,122, and on September 24, she presented a cheque for $5,237.56 to Candace Kingyens, who accepted the donation on behalf of Lansdowne Children’s Centre Foundation.
Kingyens said the money would go towards the centre’s general fund. While Lansdowne does receive some government funding, the additional monies that the foundation raises goes towards things like recreational programming and caregiver education and supports.
Barsby said she wanted to support Lansdowne because her son has been benefitting from the organizations’ services since he was two years old.
The tournament, which was held on September 7, returned to Paris, Ontario in the County of Brant this year, with 16 teams – around 100 athletes – competing, with even more spectators cheering them on.
Barsby thanked everyone who was involved in the tournament; participants, spectators and sponsors, including: Dufferin Construction, Mountsberg Excavating, Alliance Trucking, Cooper Equipment Rentals, Tri-City Equipment, 5ive9teen Productions, Canuckstuff, Domino’s Pizza, Palgong Tea, Original Gourmet Popcorn and Twisted Treats.
