Brantford, ON – Heroes Assemble! Lansdowne Children’s Centre Foundation presents the 4th annual Heroes Walk & Roll family fun carnival, returning to Brant Conservation Area (Brant Park) in Brantford, on Saturday, October 1, 2022. Everyone is welcome, and there will be prizes awarded for best-dressed adult, child and of course, pet!
Designed as a magical day for everyone involved, this carnival themed event offers games, activities, attractions and treats, celebrating whatever HERO means to you. All attendees - kids and adults - are invited to dress up for a costume parade through the grounds of Brant Park, walking and rolling this fundraising event, supporting Lansdowne Children's Centre Foundation.
Clowns, magic, superheroes, princesses, first responders and community leaders are all part of this effort, canvasing the communities of Brantford, Brant, Norfolk, Haldimand, Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, to raise awareness of the supports and services provided by Lansdowne Children's Centre. Funds raised by Heroes Walk and Roll participants, or Hero Squads, help support programs that provide children and youth with special needs to have greater access to mobility equipment, recreation camps and social groups.
Said Angee Turnbull, Executive Director of Lansdowne Children's Centre Foundation:
The children at Lansdowne are our everyday heroes. They work so hard each day to reach their goals. We hope that you will consider becoming a Lansdowne Hero and support our Heroes Walk and Roll event. Your partnership and gift would mean the world to our kids and to us.
Heroes Walk and Roll made its debut in 2019, an in-person event at Brant Park that attracted children and their families to participate in face painting, carnival games, group activities, and interactions with hero cosplayers including Batman, Wonder Woman, Spiderman and Disney Princesses. Many of these heroes will make their return in 2022, along with some new friends and faces ready for a photo opportunity and a high-five.
Lansdowne Children's Centre Foundation is proud to once again present this event in partnership with the Grand River Conservation Authority, returning to Brant Conservation Area. The event was held on a virtual fundraising platform for the past two years, as a result of COVID-19 restrictions. In 2022, the online fundraising opportunity continues as part of the campaign, and participants are encouraged to once again dress up as whatever a hero means to them while collecting pledges to help the Foundation reach their goal. Please share your photos on social media and tag us, @heroeswalkandroll and #HWR2022.
Lansdowne Children’s Centre Foundation is pleased to introduce you our 2022 Walk Ambassador – Mason Boughner. Last year, Mason was one of the top fundraisers, raising over $3,000 for the children and youth with special needs in our community. Mason has an incredible family and support system who assisted in meeting his personal fundraising goal. The Foundation is honored to have him as the face and leader of this signature event.
Our Foundation is looking forward to hosting the Walk in-person again this year. Our mission and need for support has not changed, and we are so very grateful with the outreach of support from our community during the last few years. We could not do this event without you. We hope to see you October 1st!
