Erin Huxley’s debut book, Harmony Woods: Penny and Freddy Search High and Low, is being celebrated with a launch party that will also benefit Lansdowne Children’s Centre.
“Lansdowne Children’s Centre’s mission to support children’s development aligns perfectly with the goals of this event,” Huxley said.
“Harmony Woods emphasizes the importance of musical education in early childhood development, a cause … Lansdowne passionately advocates for.”
As the back of the book reads, “From deep in the woods, came a strange new sound.Penny looked up, and Freddy looked down. Penny went one way and Freddy the other. Open the book to see what they discover!”
Coupled with illustrations by Emily Maan, the rhyming story has been called charming, delightful and wonderfully written by online reviewers.
Families are invited to attend the launch party, which will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on October 26 at the Brantford Polish Hall, 154 Pearl Street.
Like the book itself, “this event is designed to be both entertaining and educational,” with a focus on promoting early musical education.
The celebration will include a live reading by the author, a meet and greet, a themed dress-up contest, and an opportunity for guests to purchase their own signed copy of the book.
The net proceeds from the event will be donated to Lansdowne to support the not-for-profit organization’s programming and services.
