Our Mission
Lansdowne Children’s Centre offers a broad range of high quality, flexible and responsive community-based services and supports for children, young adults and their families. The Centre’s staff work in close partnership with children and families, while being committed to a family-centred approach to service delivery.
Working with its many partners both in and around Brant County and Haldimand-Norfolk, the Centre will continue to develop an integrated network of community services and supports.
The Centre demonstrates adherence to financial and professional standards to ensure accountability to its stakeholders.
Our Philosophy
Lansdowne Children’s Centre believes that:
- The family is the constant in a child’s life, while the service system and service providers within those systems fluctuate.
- Families need to be appreciated as families and children as children, recognizing that they possess a wide range of strengths, concerns, emotions and aspirations beyond their need for specialized health and developmental services and support.
- Mutual support and ongoing exchange of information should be encouraged and facilitated among all families.
- Policy and practice should empower families to be effective advocates for their needs.
- Policy and practice should recognize and honour cultural diversity, family strengths, and their varied methods of coping.
- Service providers should develop a collaborative relationship with each individual family and provide confidential services in accordance with the needs, values and priorities identified by the family.
- Services and supports for children and their families should be flexible, accessible, and comprehensive in responding to diverse family-identified needs.
- To meet the diverse needs of families, policies and programs should ensure the provision and/or coordination of a range of supports, including:
- health care
- developmental
- educational
- emotional
- recreational
- environmental
- financial supports
