What is Social Work?

Social Work is a profession concerned with helping individuals and families enhance their well-being and develop their skills and abilities to use their resources to resolve problems. At Lansdowne Children's Centre, Social Workers provide support and assistance to children and youth and their families who may be experiencing a variety of challenges.

Who is eligible for Social Work?

Lansdowne Children's Centre clients receiving other services are eligible to receive Social Work services. Referrals can be requested by the family or client, or may be suggested by another Lansdowne service provider working with the client and their family.

What can I expect?

Once a referral to Social Work has been completed you will be contacted by a member of the Social Work team. Service is offered through individual or family intervention and support. Various groups and programs may be offered that provide educational and/or therapeutic opportunities. The Social Work team may assist families and clients with accessing other services and resources, advocacy and future planning.
