Welcome to our Foundation's new website.
As the Chair of the Lansdowne Children’s Centre’s Foundation Board of Directors, I would like to extend greetings on behalf of our Foundation Board which is comprised
of 12 volunteers dedicated to raising awareness and the much needed funds for the Centre’s children’s programs and equipment needs, not currently funded
by the government. Members of our Foundation Board are community minded individuals all with one thing in common:
the best interests of our children and
youth. We are pleased to welcome three new members to our Board this Fall including Neil Chin from S.C. Johnson and Son, Limited, Len Offless and Robert Latta of T.D. Canada Trust Commercial Banking.
You may not be aware that the Lansdowne Children’s Centre Foundation was established
nearly ten years ago. In the last two years, the Foundation Board has committed
to a significant transformation to help build the Centre’s independence and to
make it possible for the Centre to deliver quality, compassionate services and supports
well into the future to help children and youth with special needs realize their
potential. Important and vital programs such as Every Kid Counts are funded solely
with money raised by the Foundation. The Foundation also raises funds to support
additional client programs, specialized equipment, research and other needs such as
literacy materials, respite support, leisure and life skills programs and improvements
to our courtyard playground.
Funds are raised through special events like our Annual Charity Motorcycle Ride as well as
through third party events such as Rotary’s Great Northern Ride and Jim Hladish’s
Every KM Counts Solo Bike Ride. We also gratefully accept donations from individuals,
community organizations and corporations. We are eternally grateful to our
donors and thank you for donating the gift of possibility. To demonstrate our commitment
to our donors, the Foundation recently adopted Imagine Canada’s Ethical
Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code. The Ethical Code is an assurance to
our donors that we are open and accountable to them and to our community.
There are many ways to make a gift to our Foundation including making an
Individual Gift, a Tribute Gift to commemorate a significant moment in your
life, an In-Memorial Gift to honour the memory of a loved one, a Planned Gift or
a Special Event. Gifts to the Foundation help ensure that children and youth
with special needs receive the support they may desperately need and an
opportunity to gain independence, confidence and to ultimately realize their
dreams. We would ask that you consider giving the gift of possibility and
helping children and youth with special needs realize their potential. To learn
how you can make a difference, please
contact our Fund Development Officer or any of our Foundation Board Members.
Thank you for your consideration.
